Greetings! I'm Heather Heitzenrater, a young
determined artist with big dreams and feathers in my hair. I was raised in
Punxsutawney PA home of the famous groundhog....yes a groundhog. I am now a
Senior at Edinboro University majoring in Fine Art with a concentration in
Painting and a minor in Drawing. I have a very active imagination, as you
might see, and like things out of the ordinary. I have always enjoyed
science fiction and fantasy novels; what fascinates me the most involves the
characters’ traveling to faraway lands, much different than our own. These
portals leave me completely spellbound, and I would imagine myself stumbling
upon one, awaiting the wonders on the other side. Even though this
world was right at our finger tips, I desired to discover creatures and cities
no one else had ever seen. I wanted to find a world that beckoned us
in with its allure of mystery and enchantment.
In my work I focus on reflective objects such as
water, foil, metal, and glass. These reflections connect us to the parallel
universes like those I was seduced by in my reading. Reflections contort
images in a way that make us see things differently: they create abstract
images in real life by twisting and bending to the point where objects and
places are indescribable.
